RANT – The musical!

Things that have irritated me thus far this weekend:

1. Cut my finger bustin’ up my kitchen in preparation for renovation.

2. Was accosted by a freakin’ MONSTER workin’ the coffee counter at Target.

3. Had to listen to 2 Indian gentlemen with full on heavy Bangladesh accents argue over which album a song by 50 cent was on for 25 minutes on line at the mall.

4. Went all the way to Home Depot and forgot my damn coupon forcing me to do the “cost of gas to go get it versus the savings of the coupon” trigonometry in the middle of a parking lot for 5 minutes.

5. The fact that I am still not wealthy enough to not care about forgetting the damn coupon.

6. Went to Times Square to pick up something that should have taken 15 minutes – but spent 2 and 1/2 hours walking down he street because EVERY FREAKIN’ FOREIGN TOURIST in the entire WORLD was there!!!!!

7.  My dead Xbox is on  it’s way to Texas.

Grrrr.

So I go : You know what he would say if he was alive right now?

And she’s all: No  what would Bob Marley say if he was alive right now?

And I knock it out of the park with : Somebody betta gon’ dig me up !  It’s dark in here and I can’t breathe mon’

And she’s all: Crickets.

Been married a long time folks.
Long time.

Tomorrow this goofy little experiment should surpass 7000 hits.

Ice is Two Dollars and Seventy Five Cents a bag.

$2.75 for a bag of ice.

 

I was standing in the deli buying my Friday cholestorol sandwich (which used to just be my DAILY cholestorol sandwich) when I happened to notice that the sign on the ICE chest said that a bag of ice is two dollars and seventy five cents. 

 

I looked closer and the bags were the same size as the ones that used to cost $1.25.

 

Used to cost $1.25 two months ago.  

 

So Gas is $4.50 a gallon where I live, cigarettes are 7 bucks ( I have not smoked for 8 years but I always told myself I could start again if I wanted to. Now I could not even afford to get myself lung cancer.), Milk is five bucks a gallon, one plain bagel is a dollar twenty five . . .

 

Houses are being put on the market or foreclosed at an alarming rate. Not just in the neighborhoods around me where they ALWAYS were. Now it’s everywhere.  

 

Capital One seems to be opening a branch on every corner as if they are devouring every bank in their path . . .

 

So uh . . . what are you gonna do about it?

 

My hand still hurts . . .

Raising Superheroes in a world full of Villians and Victims

The world is in grave danger.

Hang on race fans – it’s time for another left turn away from the goofy and a fast drive straight to the darkness.

Civilization as you and I know it cannot go on for much longer in its current state.

This has NOTHING to do with global warming or the Middle East or the dangers of tainted tomatoes.

We are killing ourselves by allowing the world to become a place devoid of HEROES.

When I was a child I was a super hero.

I cannot tell you how many times my ass was kicked stepping in front of a bully in an effort to protect his victim. Seriously, I can’t tell you. Many times. And it sucked. I wasn’t very big and it was a long time before I actually learned to cash the checks my mouth likes to write. But I never stopped because it always FELT like the RIGHT thing to do.

Today I see You Tube videos of kids ambushing each other and marketing it like part of a brutal resume to get hired on the Joker’s crew. I never hear about anybody trying to stop them. Everybody wants to be the bad guy. Nobody wants to be the hero.

I hear parents bitch about the schools and the video games and the tv shows and what a bad role model Britney Spears is but I NEVER hear about a kid getting a beating trying to STOP this bullshit.

When my wife was 8 months pregnant we came upon a group of teenagers who had just had a minor car accident on a desolate road in the middle of the night. The group who had rear ended the other were menacing the younger drivers in an effort to intimidate them inot not calling the police. I pulled my truck to the side of the road and got out to assist.

I can’t believe I even know what that sentence means.

Ok, so last night Myley Cyrus and Mandy I have no idea
what her last name is and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone
released their giant crazy totally bad @ss response to
the ACDC Cru’s Dance challenge video.

This is some crazy ass world I’m living in.

I almost prefer gang violence to all these Dance videos.

If they took 2/3rds of the budget for any of these You
Tube epics – you could use that money to fill up my truck
with gas. Twice.

Sigh.

Yeah so – M&M just kinda “phoned it in”. It was not
amazing and hardly even interesting. There were some
brief moments of inspired Hip Hop but in the end ACDC has
emerged the obvious victor.

I need to start watching shows about grown ups.

They never have a dance off between the cast of CSI and
Law and Order . . .

wait a minute . . . ahhh Jerry Orbach – you died too soon sir!
