HA!
I’m becoming like the evil Gene Siskel of Internet movie reviews!
So I finally got around to seeing JUNO. It very much reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite. Not in tone at all, but just in the way it “felt”. As funny as it is, it’s obviously culled from someone’s actual experiences. It has a great cast, Ellen Page, JK Simmons, the kid from Superbad and Arrested Development (who by the way is an excellent actor.), Jason Bateman, Allison Janey, Jennifer Garner…other people whom I sorta recognized but not enough to seek out their identities . . .
So what can I say about JUNO? It was written by a stripper and it’s about a teenager who gets pregnant and decides to give her baby up for adoption to a couple of yuppies in the Minnesota (I think) suburbs. It’s very funny mostly because of Ellen Page’s delivery of the writer’s Kevin Smith-esque dialog and very touching thanks to JK Simmon’s work as her Dad and Jennifer Garner’s work as a woman who can’t conceive.
Another stand out thing here – the teenagers in this movie, really seem like TEENAGERS. Not like 20 year old actors carrying textbooks.
Definitely worth spending cash at Blockbuster on.

I know I haven’t commented in awhile, so let me take a minute to say something towards your little blog today.
JK Simmons is NOT an excellent actor. I would even go as far as saying he is a really bad actor. Can you even make out a word he says in the movie?? Let’s sit down together and watch Superbad and I want you to tell me what he is saying in that movie. He mumbles really badly. On top of all that, he always plays the pathetic role (so now he’s sterotyped after only 2 movies) and I don’t think he has it in him to break out of that mold anytime soon.
I really didn’t like Superbad and I can only pray that you feel that same way too.

Whoah – Whoah Whoah now . . .
JK Simmons is NOT the kid from Superbad . . . JK Simmons plays the DAD in JUNO and J Jonah Jameson in Spiderman AND the Psychologist on Law and Order AND the White Supremecist in OZ . . . SO FIRST OFF – lets clarify . . . You dislike Michael Cera –
And that’s fine.
I understood EVERY word he said AND I thought he was very understated and did a great job. He was not pathetic at all. He was a teenager. A rather “REAL” one in my opinion. I also think he is great on Arrested Development and agree that Superbad was terrible.
But Bill Hader is excellent.

i assumed Juno was directed by the same guy that directed Knocked Up, because it’s about unexpected pregnancy and Michael Cera stars as Juno’s boyfriend, but alas this was not the case.
