I’m not watching anymore sports television.

So at some point during the Superbowl, somebody pressed the pause button on my DVR remote while I was out of the room.
This rather innocent action caused me to miss the last 2 minutes of the game.

In any other Superbowl in History this would have meant that I  only missed the Gatorade bath of the winning coach, but this year . . . well you know what happened.

Without giving a lesson on Cable DVR technology allow me to quickly point out the relavent facts.

1 – Child asked me to tape Puppy Bowl.
2- I decided to tape super bowl as well in case anything interesting happened.
3- DVR can only tape 2 things at once (which is one more than a VCR so I am not complaining) but while taping 2 things you MUST watch one of them. You cannot tape 1 and 2 and watch 3.

You with me so far?

4- I decided to record it in standard definition because HI DEF takes a lot more disc space.
5. At some point during the game, somebody paused the game unbeknownst to me.
6. Puppy Bowl ended at 10pm.
7. 10 minutes later or so, The Patriots scored with a little more than 2 minutes left . . . I figured I may as well watch the Giants lose in High Def, now that the outcome of the Puppy Bowl was secure.
8. Changed the channel to 705 (FOX High Def in my area) and  found that they were doing a wrap up of the game.
9. Questioned whether I had become unstuck in time.
10. Heard one of the announcers state that Eli would probably be MVP . . .
11. In  horror, I quickly changed back to my taped file (standard def) and found that it had stopped at 10:15 expecting an all new episode of HOUSE to start…
12. Decided that this is why I do not watch sports on a regular basis. I cannot handle the pressure.
