Puppy Bowl 2008

So as you sit down today with your big bag of chips and 12 pack of Bud, surrounded by family and friends excited to see the Giants try as hard as they can to best the Patriots – give a minute of thought to the scene in my home.

This year was to be our Skye Terrier’s big moment. All of his months of training . . . bring the ball, drop the ball, chase the ball, bring the ball, drop the ball, chase the ball . . . for naught. In the closing moments of the Animal Planet Channel Open Draft forPuppy Bowl 2008 he blew out his left rear knee and learned the hard sad lesson that everyone should have a back up plan.

Now he just sits around the house drinking from a dirty bowl and telling boring stories about how good he was in obedience school. Sigh.

Go Giants.

Great. Now my eyes hurt as much as my ears.

Okay, the headline is deceptive and unnecesarily mean spirited because it’s actually a lie. I just couldn’t think of a funny “positive” headline and quite frankly this site is all about the “snarky” comments.
That being said it’s really the ONLY negative thing I have to say about the 3D Hannah Montanna/Myley Cyrus Best of Both worlds tour movie. Say what you will about the Disney corporation but they recognize gold when they see it and manage to mine every last drop from the mountainside.
I’m gonna say it outloud and accept all comments from naysayers.
I loved it.
Thought it was great.
The 3D was awesome, best I think I have ever seen. The technology was comfortable (My eyes really didn’t hurt as they have with other 3D experiences) and the music was exactly what I expected. I wasn’t expecting Springsteen (I don’t even expect that from Bruce anymore)
I was also reminded how much I like this Cyrus kid. Last year I took my daughter to meet her at the Times Square Virgin Megastore and was very impressed at the fact that she really does seem to be a 15 year old girl “playing” a pop star. She leaned over to my then 6 year old and talked about “girl” things for at least a full minute before signing her CD and giving the next little kid the same attention.

The movie is concert footage interspersed with backstage stuff and clips from her “real life”. The Jonas Brothers are in it as well and they seem to have that same grateful, generous look about them. They are incredibly lucky teenagers and they know and seem to really appreciate it.
I’m going on far longer then I expected to about this, but I’m just really happy that my daughter has a Myley Cyrus to cheer for in a sad time for “Pop Stars”.
